End of Year Message from the SBHS Board of Trustees

The Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum continues to advance its mission of preserving maritime history, engaging the community, and expanding educational opportunities through the leadership and commitment of its Board of Directors. During the past year, the Board has supported several key initiatives aligned with the Museum’s strategic priorities. These accomplishments include the launch of a redesigned website to improve public access and engagement; strong financial, volunteer, and leadership support for signature fundraising events such as the annual Golf Tournament and 5K Run/Walk; and active trustee participation in Lighthouse programs and community events. Equally important, the Board has remained focused on strengthening and expanding educational programming for local schools, reinforcing the Lighthouse’s role as an essential cultural and learning resource for the region. The Board is also pleased to welcome Mary as the Museum’s new Executive Director. Her appointment marks a significant milestone in the organization’s continued professionalization and long-term sustainability. Under her leadership, the Lighthouse is well-positioned to build on recent momentum and advance its mission. The Board extends its sincere appreciation and best wishes for a prosperous and healthy new year to trustees, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners whose dedication and support make this progress possible.
